Contact Dr. Brooks

Dr. Douglas Brooks is a full professor in the Department of Teacher Education within the School of Education, Health and Society at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  Dr. Brooks has regularly published in the areas of teacher effectiveness, teacher-student  verbal and nonverbal communcation, classroom management, technology integration and grant writing. His research on the first days of school is referenced in Dr. Harry Wong's book "The First Days of School " and has become standard induction program content for helping entry year teachers effectively begin the school year.  He teachers courses in Classroom Management, a Senior Capstone class and supervises student teachers.  He has developed a grant writing system called GRANTSUCCESS. This system guides novice grant writers in the preparation of successful grant applications. Dr. Brooks regularly presents GRANTSUCCESS at professional meetings and offers an online EDT 461/561 Grant Writing Methods and Skills class at Miami University.  Dr. Brooks regularly partners with technology companies, school districts and individual schools on topics of strategic planning, grant writing, teacher effectiveness and classroom management systems.
